The EU and Southern Mediterranean Countries launch a new partnership

12 September 2013. Brussels-  The first meeting of the Steering Committee of the project ENPI Climate South Programme was held in an atmosphere of active cooperation and strong participation.

The  meeting aimed at involving the official representatives of the countries concerned by the project ENPI Clima South (Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Palestine, Israel, Jordan), as well as EU DEVCO , EU DG CLIMA, the Experts of the project  in a decision-making process for the creation of a strategy and related activities based upon their needs and expectations.

Comments and activities outlined in the first phase of the project (that started on February 1st) were provided, illustrating the first six months of the experts work in all countries; the meeting also represented a precious opportunity to establish an effective and permanent  cooperation with the representatives of the countries, define concrete strategies and activities and finalize roadmap  and approve the first annual work plan for their development and implementation.

The open dialogue among participants, stressed the importance of the need to create a permanent cooperation with the representatives of the countries , the EU and the Project. 

From now on the Steering Committee will meet regularly (every six month), being all the parties convinced that no result can be achieved without a frank and open sharing of ideas, suggestions and know-how which will be an essential characteristic of the ENPI Clima South programme.
